Types of Benefits Offered in the Workers’ Compensation Program

Workers’ compensation works for the benefit of employees, who have been injured while working within the company’s premises or outside working for the company. These benefits can be received after an injured employee files a claim. The employer has to pay for all the medical expenses and offer several other benefits. TTD benefits

The most common type of benefit is temporary total disability benefits if an employee has been injured in the office. In this, the employee is unable to work because he is taking time to heal from injuries. In this case, he may get compensation on a weekly basis. 

TPD benefits

TPD stands for temporary partial disability in which an employee may not be able to work to his full capacity before the accident. He may return to work with a diminished capability to carry out certain duties.  In this case, he may not receive the same wage and his paycheck will reduce. To make up for this difference, he is entitled to receive the TPD benefits so that he is able to bear his expenses.

Maintenance and vocation rehabilitation

If the employee is not able to work because of his diminished capability, the employer will have to support him to find a job, which offers him the same salary structure as before the accident.  Some benefits under this type include job hunting, counseling, vocational training and education at an accredited institution. These benefits are designed to offer him a helping hand and find an alternative career option so that he does not stop working altogether because he was injured at the work.

PPD benefits

It stands for permanent partial disability benefits. They are offered to the injured employee if he is no longer able to perform duties, which he used to do before the accident.  Under this category, if the person has lost any of his body parts such as an arm, a leg, a hand or an eye, he is entitled to receive these benefits. 

PTD benefits

They are also known as permanent total disability. If the person has lost his capacity to return to work and perform his duties, he can obtain these benefits. Some of these cases include loss of arms, legs, eyes and the combination of any of these body parts.
